Ok, so this may seem like I'm underrating the laptop, so I'm going to start with the pros :)
1) good display
2)good speakers
3)good size/weight for mobility
3)cool design
4) fast in terms of everything BUT GAMING
Ok, now the cons
1)graphics are a joke. You can only play games made 3 years earlier, otherwise you'll notice a lagggggggg
2)HHHOOOOTTTTT - this laptop overhears way too easily.... It actually gets past 180 degrees f if you play a game for 10+ minutes
3)HD movies? Nope. If you enjoy laggy 1080p, Shuuure. But otherwise stick to 720p or 480p
4) not really loud speakers... I'd say they're not the loudest speakers ive had, so I bought a few extra headphones and speakers for it.
5) paint fades because of the heat, basically meaning I can't sell it without paying $100+ for replacement hand rests.
6) hardware problems - I noticed there are 2 audio outs....windows only supports 1 audio out, so that makes one of them useless, unless the other breaks, or you find special software to get both outputs to work.
7) battery goes in a flash.... 3-4 hours was advertised when I bought it... I only got 1 hour when I clicked power saver settings, so I bought a 9 cell battery instead... This got me 3 hours, and now it's dying (only about 2-2 1/2 hours now)
I think Dell had a wonderful idea for this laptop, but it definitely needs some refining. If they fix everything above and add a few features, then I'd be glad to buy the new updated laptop.

Epson Stylus CX5200 All-in-One Multifunction Review

Epson Stylus CX5200 All-in-One Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this printer for about 3 weeks and am extremely pleased. I've used it for text printing, copying, scanning and, more recently, photo printing. The performance has been terrific - I printed out an 8x10 photo that looks comparable to one produced by a portrait studio. For photo printing, it is critical to take the picture at high resolution, and to ensure that the printer is set to the proper settings (e.g. the "best photo" setting, photo paper setting, and several others.). While I've read reviews on other sites that complain about photo quality printing on this model, I think that following these guidelines and using good photo quality paper ensures good quality printing. Also, the printer does not seem to drink up ink cartidges the way others are reputed to, and has the convenience (and economy) of allowing you to replace separate color ink cartridges.

Canon PIXMA MP510 All-in-One Photo Printer (1450B002) Review

Canon PIXMA MP510 All-in-One Photo Printer (1450B002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My purchase from Amazon yielded a printer that had an issue. Canon promptly replaced with a brand new unit. The printer is plenty fast. Does a great job with text, nice and crisp, which is my primary concern whenever I purchase a printer. Printing on standard paper my photos look great. Looking forward to trying them on photo paper and I imagine the results will be even better. Copying, works great and copies look near identical to originals. Scanning function works great too with scans that can be used in print and elsewhere. At $150 this printer is the way to go. Of course you could spend twice as much and get something quicker but as too quality of output I am not sure the average user would see much of a difference without magnification. I have no qualms about recommending this product. One last note... it is great to have the separate ink carts. The black is twice as large as the 3 colored carts.
Thanks Canon

Canon MultiPass F80 Multifunction Review

Canon MultiPass F80 Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a quality all-in-one solution for my home office and personal use, and after some research my options boiled down to 2 models: the HP Officejet D145 and the Canon Multipass F80. Since I couldn't find a store anywhere that had BOTH of these models running for comparison, I bought ONE OF EACH and brought them home for my own evaluation.
I bought the HP D145 first. The PROS: Fast, great quality prints and copies even on plain paper in "Normal" mode. Makes double-sided copies. Multi-format card reader. Good software and tutorials. Intuitive and easy to use frontpanel buttons.
CONS: Printed manual only covers a few of the options, and help files on the CD cover the rest. Won't print borderless photos. If you need to copy something that has printing near the edges of the original, you need to reduce a few percentage points first or you'll end-up with cropped copies.
I printed a few photos from my PC and also from my Nikon Coolpix 995 3.3 megapixel digital camera using the card reader. If the photos are well lit and of high quality, they will print nicely on Photo quality paper. The only catch is the 1/4" border around the edge. I haven't tried printing on 4x6" photo paper yet, but my guess is that the border will print there as well. Some may not see this as a big deal, but if you want to print copies of scanned photos or digital camera images, they won't look the same as other photographs in your album if they have borders around them. An option is to make 4x6" prints on full sheets of paper, but then you have to cut them by hand. This is also a waste of expensive paper.
Having been impressed by the HP D145, but underwhelmed by it's inability to create borderless photo prints, I decided to see what the Canon F80 had to offer. For more than a hundred dollars less, it seemed logical to compare the two to see what HP was providing for the extra money. I also thought there was a chance that the quality of photo prints from the HP weren't that great, but I had nothing to compare to.
I bought a Canon Multipass F80, and the first thing I noticed was it's smaller size and compact footprint. It didn't come with a USB cable, and the only way to connect to your computer was with... a USB CABLE! It seems a little crazy to me that they don't include a cable that probably costs them pennies. Luckily, I had a extra one available. Having already experimented with the HP a couple of days earlier, I knew right off the bat what I wanted to know about this machine... so I tried to print a full page photo from the Cardreader. It wouldn't recognize the card at first, so after some digging throught the manual I discovered that the card must be formatted by the camera and NOT the PC. After I did this, and took a few new photos, the F80 was able to recognize the card (Compactflash only). I printed an index first, and compared to the HP D145 the photos were very small (stamp sized, compared the HP's ~1x2" index photos). The HP has this cool feature that let's you select the photo(s) and print sizes of images on the index page... then you scan the page and it automagically prints your selections. The Canon F80 doesn't do this, but I'm not sure how often I would even use this feature if I had it. There is nothing in the F80 manual that leads me to believe that you can increase the size of the thumbnails.
Canon F80 PROS: Higher quality photo prints. I ran a page of wallet sized prints from the cardreader on both machines, and a close inspection revealed slightly better quality on the Canon. In fact, it was impossible to tell that it wasn't an actual photo-lab print on the Canon. The HP looked good, but you could see a slight bit of dithering in some areas. Unless you use a magnifying glass on the photos hanging on your wall, you'll never notice the difference, but I wanted to point it out nonetheless. I also printed a photo using the borderless option, and WOW!! Again, a perfect photograph printed to the edge of the paper... just like you'd get from Kodak. Compared to the same full page print on the HP d145, the F80 print was larger (borderless) and brighter.
I haven't used either of these machines enough yet to know anything about the ink usage and long-term costs. The F80 uses 4 different colored ink tanks, and the HP D145 uses 1 black and 1 color tank... but the large color tank feeds ink to 4 separate color printheads. I'm not clear on how this works exactly, but I imagine that when you run out of Yellow ink, you'll need to replace the whole color cartridge. Only time will tell for sure, and I'll decide to take one of these back before I get that far.
COMPARISON:
HP D145 wins: quality of color copies and prints on normal paper, double-sided copies, index print quality, software.
CANON F80 wins: photo print quality, borderless prints, small footprint, lower cost.
UNKNOWN: speed and scanning ability (untested)
BOTTOM LINE: It depends on what's important to you. Compare the PROS and CONS and decide what's the best fit for your needs.
Good luck!

I actually bought this item new from Walmart for about $25. I've used it daily for three months and have had no problems so far. The Ink Cartridges cost about $22 but it only uses one and mine has just run out of ink for the first time. I can't see anything to object to.
The print quality is about as good as my expensive HP printer and HP ink is more expensive and takes two.

I have recently purchased this machine for fax and mostly black and white print jobs for my home office. Since then I have purchased a digital camera, and have found this machine produces great framable pictures!!! I would highly recomend this machine for anyone who shops around and wants the most features and quality for the price. I have used up a few ink cartridges printing larger 8x10 photos, but the individual ink cartridges make it easy and cost effective to use. The only thing I am missing is a flatbed, but so far I haven't needed it and have been able to scan pictures through the document feeder. Also a great color copier.

Brother contributes another smart machine (at a smart price) to the multifunction market with this 5-in-1 combination of color fax, color printer, color copier, color scanner, and computer-based fax.
As a printer, the MFC-3100C can produce 10 pages per minute of black and white and eight pages per minute of color, at up to 2,400 x 1,200 resolution (naturally, the higher resolutions are a little slower printing). The 100-sheet paper cassette keeps you always in stock.
As a full-color fax machine, the MFC-3100C features 2 MB of memory, storing up to 100 pages, and 14.4 bps speed, delivering a page roughly every six seconds. With 40 station auto-dialing, the machine also can broadcast faxes to 90 locations. In addition, the MFC-3100C is equipped with a Brother PC Fax Driver, enabling you to send black-and-white faxes from your PC.
The MFC-3100C's scanner function can scan at up to 2,400 dpi, and one-touch keys allow for scanning directly to e-mail or OCR. When it comes to making copies, the MFC5100c can print up to 99 copies at a time at 1,200 x 1,200 dpi resolution. Copies can be reduced and enlarged from 25 percent to 400 percent.
With parallel and USB interfaces, the MFC-3100C is cross-platform compatible, working with Works with Windows and iMac/iBook/G3/G4, with parallel and USB interfacing (cables not included). The unit is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

Boy after reading the last few posts, I was worried when I bought one for my wife the "PhotoNut" However, the package arrived in perfect condition, I bought direct from Epson. All the pieces were in the box properly packed, we installed the software, simple, loaded the cartridges as indicated by the instructions, plugged into the USB port, printer was found right away. We tried the copy and enhance the color option first, WOW!!! I had a 15 year old collage group shot that hung on a wall and faded, the redo brought it back to life. Its not perfect, but WOW anyway
I love this printer. My wife spent hours last night playing with it and handed me a stack of really great looking prints this morning I was impressed! We currently have a HP Photosmart 1000 and a Epson Picture Mate Both still work fine, but the 680 takes the prize!!!
For those of you that have had problems, I don't know what to say, for anybody reading this, I really like it, so does my wife.
Good Luck to all
Pat S.

Brother® MFC-8640D Laser Flatbed All-in-One Duplex Review

Brother® MFC-8640D Laser Flatbed All-in-One Duplex
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Great printer. Duplexing is great. Feeder is great, and really good quality. I got a great price for it and have been happily printing away for months. Drums are pricey, but the toner last a long Time (even more if you put black tape over the "eye" of the toner cartridge so the printer will keep printing until ink is really all gone (approximately 1,500 more pages--That was a REALLY deceptive trick Brother). Only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the network card which you buy to upgrade it to wireless is sometimes tricky. It will stop working for reasons unknown. I'll turn the printer off and most of the time within a few hours the network card will reset itself and we can wireless print again by changing the IP address. No idea why it does that.
Otherwise, highly recommend.

Lexmark X75 Multifunction Printer Review

Lexmark X75 Multifunction Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this printer a few months ago not because my previous printer had failed but because I simply couldn't use my scanner and printer at the same time. This printer had just been released and there was little information but I took a chance and have been incredibly happy with it since.
Most of the complaints I see here seem to be a problem of unrealistic expectations. This unit is NOT a fax machine. You can scan something into your computer and fax it using a modem but that's another story. This unit is NOT a laser printer nor is it a high end photo printer. It is also NOT a stand alone copying machine. It is printer that scans and copies.
I found the installation to be simple - follow the instructions that come with it and you'll be fine - be careful aligning the print cartridges (its easy but just don't blow it off) and the print quality will be significantly better. I installed the software and was a little worried when I went to print the first time and the familiar print setup page was replaced with a huge assortment of options. My worry was quickly replaced with excitement - you can store your printing preferences! If you are like me you don't need to print every webpage in beautiful color, its a waste of time and ink, so I have a setting for Black & White Draft, works like a charm.
Now I must admit that the black and white printing is not any better than my old Lexmark - inkjets are inkjets. The color and picture quality though is significantly better. Using the best printing option on photo paper it was hard to tell it came from an inkjet. I have found the photocopying and scanning to be nice and clear as well.
Overall I'm very pleased with this space saving printer.

Canon MultiPass MP360 Multifunction Review

Canon MultiPass MP360 Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After paying $30.00 for HP cartridges for years, I selected the Canon specifically because the ink cartridges were $7.00 or less and the color $15.00 or less. While I didn't expect the ink to last as long as the HP tanks, I was pleasantly surprised to get well over 100 sheets of greyscale printing by using the draft and standard modes and reserving quality mode only for presentations. In ink savings alone this printer will pay for itself compared with other brands, many many many times over.
The only real problem (and its not really a problem) with the printer is a long warmup period followed by some overdramatic printer head gymnastics when you go to print a document or use the copier. It can take well over 30 seconds between your print request and when the first page actually starts printing, although the printer is speedy enough after it starts. For casual home or office use this really isn't a problem.
The printer is obsessive about cleaning itself because the ink cartridges don't come with a printer head. This reduces the cost of the ink cartridges considerably but the printer has to take extra care in keeping the permanent head clean. So the long warmups are actually saving you money.
Another thing to note is that the scanner is only 8 1/2 by 11 so if you need to scan legal documents this isn't the model for you. If you want to make an occssional copy or scan a photo the scanner is perfect.
Regardless of where you are printing from (photoshop, word processor, or using the copier) print quality is excellent and the supplied drivers makes it easy to configure the printout. All three functions (scanning, printing, and copying) work flawlessly as as you expected.
The supplied software is worth the price of the printer alone offering an adaquate photo retoucher ( this software won't work with .gif images though ), Optical Character Recognition, and little applets to make handling scanned images (storing, attaching to email) easy.
Setup was a mild chore made easier by following the large poster in the box, there was nothing too difficult, mostly removing packaging and installing the printer ink for the first time. The poster was quite insistant that the USB cable (which is not included and must be purchased seperately) not be attached until last.
The unit itself is about a foot tall, a legal page wide, and a page and a half deep. So it's taller than you might expect. The unit is shiney black plastic, although the top is a more attractive textured black. The sides are light gray. They match the 2004 model Dell computers fairly well. Another nice feature is the output hopper can be folded up when not in use to save space and it just looks nicer. When you print, the hopper will automatically open.
There is no USB cable included with the printer so you'll need to get one. The Belkin cable Amazon recommends with this printer is a great value and works with either USB 1.0 or 2.0 (the printer can understand both). The printer does come with a color and black ink cartridge. The ink cartridge is the popular and widely used BCI-24 series, I had no problem finding replacements on Amazon, Wal Mart, and my local office supply stores.
All told this is a perfect home/small office unit that will fit just about any budget. After a month's use, I'm very satisfied with the quality and value of this printer.

Uniting the engine of the popular Canon i455 photo printer and Canon's own scanner technology, the MultiPASS MP360 helps your busy home or small office minimize your desktop clutter. This single unit combines the functions of a scanner, copier, and printer. With printing and copying speeds at up to 18 ppm black and 12 ppm color, it easily keeps pace with business demands while its rich colors and low-cost consumables make it the perfect companion to electronic craft projects.
You can archive your family photos or digitize your research, thanks to the flatbed color scanner, which has an optical resolution of 1,200 x 2,400 dpi (9,600 x 9,600 dpi interpolated). Included scanning software can help you edit, organize, and smooth out your images to improve the fine details--your copies may look better than the original when all is said and done! 48-bit color and 16-bit grayscale provide realistic colors and accurate and subtle shading with high contrast.
The printer offers 600 x 600 dpi for black pages and 4,800 x 1,200 dpi for photographic color; it's compatible with a wide variety of papers. The two-cartridge system makes replacing empty ink tanks a snap. The M360 is compatible with Windows-based systems and connects via a high-speed USB 2.0 cable. Canon includes a one-year warranty with Instant Exchange service.

HP OfficeJet 5110 All-in-One Multifunction Review

HP OfficeJet 5110 All-in-One Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have recently purchased this HP Officejet 5110 all-in-one and was very happy with it. It has some strange quirks that I cannot seem to find the answer for, am waiting for HP support to get back to me. Sometimes during e-postage printing it will say it is "printing" in the dialog box and just sits there and doesn't print. I have Windows XP Professional and the software seemed to go in okay. The paper feed makes a very loud noise when the paper isn't shoved in all of the way or you forgot to put paper in. When just wanting to make a quick copy of something, it makes you go through a 6 item menu just to make a text copy! The print problem also happens when trying to print text off of a web page that usually printed with no problems before. Also on the HP website it states they are working on an updated driver for Windows XP for this printer. Gee I wonder??? And why did they issue the Officejet 6110 so quickly after this release? Maybe because this was a "trial model"????
Who knows, I will just hold onto it and wait for the driver.

HP LaserJet 3300mfp All-in-One Review

HP LaserJet 3300mfp All-in-One
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great, commercial-quality machine for a small office. It is an upgrade of the LJ3100 and LJ3200. I had a LJ3100 and used and abused it for 5 years. This latest version is improved by addition of a flatbed copier/scanner. The paper feed has been re-designed into a flat stack that holds an entire ream, so that should eliminate the multiple-page feed problem that plagued earlier models. The duty cycle has been increased to 10,000 per month. The fax modem (in the 3330 model only) is faster, and fax resolution is improved.
The good news about the scanner is that it allows true color scans in a variety of resolutions. This is great if you want to email color jpegs. The (slightly) bad news about the scanner is that the increased functionality results in a slower operation. If the only thing you want to do is scan text into pdf files, this scanner (and the automatic document feed) are slower than the LJ3100 and LJ3200.
The only thing flat-out horrible about this thing is the HP software. HP doesn't give you the option to load only the drivers. You are forced to load absolutely gigantic "Document Manager" and "LaserJet Director" files that nobody would ever use, but which files are plugged into your msconfig and startup folders. It takes some messing around to clean up your computer after you load up the HP software, and HP doesn't allow you to uninstall features you'd never use.

The Hewlett Packard LaserJet 3300mfp is an efficient all-in-one unit, providing professional-quality printing, flatbed copying, and color scanning. The high-resolution 1,200 dpi laser print engine, TrueRes enhancement technology, and micro fine toner result in sharp copies and prints.
The copier function of the HP3300mfp LaserJet can stand alone (without a PC), producing up to 99 copies at 15 pages per minute. The reduction/enlargement settings range from 25 percent to 400 percent.
Supporting a wide variety of media, the LaserJet offers crisp laser printing on cards, transparencies, and all standard-size business paper stocks. It holds up to 250 sheets and 30 envelopes and supports hand feeding for duplex printing. You can expect a hefty duty cycle up to 10,000 pages per month.
The versatile design of the legal-size flatbed glass permits high-fidelity color scans. Optical resolution is 600 x 600 dpi or 9,600 x 9,600 dpi enhanced, and color depth is 24 bits or 256 gray scale levels.
The standard memory is 32 MB RAM (9 MB for the system, 23 MB available; expandable to 96 MB). A 16-character display and control panel includes quality, collation, paper size, scan to, and alert light. The package contains the unit itself, a toner cartridge, power cord, Getting Started guide, support flyer, CD-ROM with software drivers and an electronic user's guide, a 250-sheet input tray, and a priority input tray. The 3300mfp is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems (optional compatibility with MAC 9.1 and 10.1) and is supported by a one-year limited warranty.

Canopus TWINPACT 100 Digital Video PC/TV Scan Converter Review

Canopus TWINPACT 100 Digital Video PC/TV Scan Converter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am the owner of a Canopus TwinPACT100 and am posting this review because I believe the screen-capture feature which is at the heart of this product's target market is seriously flawed. The quality of the screen capture produces distorted, low-resolution output that is essentially unreadable.
I am experienced building computers, so I read the manual and talked to Canopus (now Grass Valley) customer service about features and product comparison before buying the TwinPACT100. For a product that costs between $400-$500 - by a company that develops professional A/V devices - the TwinPACT100 is extremely disappointing at best and seriously misleading at worst. The company's product manual for the device touts that the TwinPACT100 will capture in high-resolution (not HD) Digital Video (720 x 480) it captures on the screen.
Another issue is that the software is dated from 2003 (version 1.0) and works only with Win XP or Win2000. There is no updated software on their website. I tried installing on a Win7 (64-bit) system and I received an error message stating that the operating system is not supported. However, Windows 7 will try to install using adjusted settings. Ultimately it installed on my Win7 OS, but it froze my computer when trying use the capture.
When I tried to uninstall the software, you cannot do it via the Control Panel - Add/Remove. Canopus customer service provided instructions to locate a specific directory on the C-drive and run some 'setup' program but that directory did not exist. So I'm scratching my head on how to remove it. I may have to use a 3rd-party software removal program.
I was successful at installing to software on my other desktop (a Win XP machine) to test the TwinPACT100. There is no elegant GUI interface - Only a taskbar icon that you click to choose a screen area to capture and to stop and start the capture. There is also a 'remote control' to access functions. However, the point is that the software is 2003-vintage and the company has not put resources into making it functional for Vista/Win7 or updating the software controls interface.
I own a Canopus ADVC300 which is a great product for converting analog to digital or vice-versa and they have great customer service that responds promptly. This is what led me to believe (along with the specs) that the TwinPACT100 would perform as advertised with regard to screen capture. If you need only an analog-to-digital convertor then purchase their ADVC110 or ADVC300. The TwinPACT100 also performs the A-to-D function comparable to that of the ADVC110. But you are buying the TwinPACT100 for the added capability of the screen capture, and if that is not suitable, what's the point of that model?
Unfortunately, no matter how powerful your computer is (CPU or GPU), all the processing takes place in the Canopus box. When talking to Canopus customer service the tech talked about what adjustments I could make to screen resolution (lower it to 640x480 if possible) and colors so to not over-load their dedicated processor (that admission left me with that sinking feeling).
There are other posts on the internet by people who purchased the TwinPACT100 and are frustrated with the screen-capture aspects of the TwinPACT100. If the device was $100 one could chalk it up experience, but at $400-$500, this product cannot be recommended and I felt compelled to speak-out.
